Scar Removal
Scars are the result of many injuries, but unfortunately unlike bruises and scrapes, scars do not always go away once the injury has healed. There are a number of different methods that have been developed over time to deal with scarring, including natural and home remedies, over the counter remedies, prescribed remedies developed for use by doctors, and also surgical or laser remedies as well. What this means is that if you have scarring that you would like to lighten or have completely removed, it would be wise for you to research the different scar removal options, including cosmetic surgery procedures and other non surgery procedures alike.

The type of scars that people are often most interested in preventing or removing is hypertrophic scars, which are a type of scars that are red and raised. For some people, these hypotrophic scars are capable of being painful, or even causing limited movement in whatever area is affected, which is known as contractures. Hypertrophic scars are capable of diminishing over time, but only somewhat and never completely. There are cosmetic surgery treatments that can be used to deal with hypertrophic scars once they have become present, and there are also a number of home remedies and other natural remedies that can be used for treating or even preventing hypertrophic scars at home. These home remedies include Vitamin E or Tocopherol, Topical Honey and Onion Extract.
Vitamin E
Also known as Tocopherol, Vitamin E is an anti oxidant that is fat soluble. It can be found both in liquid form and capsule form, and can be purchased online, through grocery stores, through drug stores and even specialty health food stores. Vitamin E oil is typically applied directly to whatever area is affected. Vitamin E has proven itself capable of penetrating the layers of the skin in order to reduce the formation of the free radicals that interfere with the healing process. Vitamin E is frequently prescribed following cosmetic plastic surgery and other types of plastic surgery.
Topical Honey
For centuries, honey has been used to dress wounds and burns. A review of 22 different clinical trials was held in 2006 that found that honey had both anti inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and that it was capable of stimulating the growth of healthy new tissue as well. Honey is proving itself to be helpful with hypertrophic scars, ulcers and burns as well.
Onion Extract
Onion, which is also known as Allium Cepa, is an ingredient that is regularly found within popular scar gel products that can be found over the counter or prescribed by doctors. Studies have proven that onion extract can have antibacterial as well as anti inflammatory properties, helping to regulate the formation of collagen which can prevent scarring from occurring as badly.
These are just three of the options available to you for treating scars from home. Speak to your doctor to find out what other options are out there for scar treatment and scar removal.
