Botox Injections

Are you looking for a new skin care regimen that will reduce the signs of aging and restore beauty and youth to your facial features? There are a wide variety of different options out there for anti aging skin care, and each has different costs associated with it, as well as different risks and benefits, advantages and disadvantages and so on and so forth. Botox injections are one of the options that are available to people who are looking to improve the appearance of their face. Botox is a material that has been in use for over fifty years now for a wide variety of different uses. In 2002, Botox injections were finally approved for use of relaxing and improving upon frown lines and other wrinkles present in the areas between the eyes and on the forehead. Now Botox injections have been used to treat more than 500,000 patients in less than a decade successfully.

One common misconception that is regularly associated with Botox injections is that they actually paralyze your muscles in your face. Although this is possible when it comes to extreme amounts of injected Botox, the truth is that Botox is designed to relax the muscles rather than paralyzing them, allowing the patient to have a limited amount of activity without an over activity in those areas. Patients should be aware of the fact that Botox is not used to prevent them from making facial expressions, but rather is designed to prevent frowns and facial grimaces, which are the facial expressions that will cause unwanted and unattractive frown lines and other wrinkles. When Botox is injected, no one will be able to tell that the procedure has been performed, but rather the patient will simply look more rested, happier or more relaxed as a result.

The Botox injections procedure involves placing the patient in a slightly raised position, cleansing the areas where the injections will be administered using a non alcoholic cleansing product. After this, the Botox will be injected directly into whatever areas are desired. Usually there are either between four and five areas on each side of the patient’s forehead, or between two and three areas in each eye area. More areas can also be injected into by physicians who are skilled depending on what type of wrinkles are present and what desired effect is chosen by the patient. It is common for the physician to apply pressure to the area if it appears to be bleeding following the injection.

After the Botox injections are completed, the patient will be required to lay upright or in a semi upright position for between 2 and 5 minutes to make sure that he or she feels alright following the procedure. Afterward, the patient should lie down for between two and four hours. If there is a concern regarding bruising, the patient should avoid taking any aspirin or any aspirin-related product like Advil or Aleve to make sure that bruising is kept to an absolute minimum following the procedure.
