Cellulite Treatments

Cellulite has certainly become one of the most common cosmetic problems of the world today. Most women suffer from this excess fat deposition in their bodies, especially in the thighs, which gives them a look as though their skin is an orange peel. Cellulite is actually hardened fat which cannot be removed through routine methods such as dieting and exercise. But it is definitely a cosmetic problem and is regarded as such.

Many methods have been devised for cellulite treatment. They are all comparable in their pros and cons. The following are some of the cellulite treatments available today:

  1. Liposuction
  2. Endermology
  3. Ionophoresis
  4. Mesotherapy

Let us take a look at these methods in a bit more detail.

Cellulite Treatments by Liposuction

Suction means to remove something under pressure. Lipid means fat. Hence, in liposuction, the fat in the underlying layers of the skin that has hardened, i.e. the cellulite, is removed. This is done by making very tiny openings in the skin and then inserting a suction device known as a cannula to remove the fat layers. The results given are similar to those in a thigh lift, arm lift or a tummy tuck procedure.

There are several risks involved in cellulite treatments by liposuction. For one, the method is quite painful and it can go wrong if not done by an expert. However, because of the quick and visible results that liposuction provides, most people go for this expensive procedure.

Cellulite Treatments by Endermology

Endermology uses a dual method to treat the cosmetic problem of cellulite deposition in the body. The first phase involves enhancing the circulation of the blood in the body so that the fat in the under layers is dissolved as much as possible. This is done by rollers. The second method is to suck out the fat in a method similar to liposuction. The dual technique makes the method more effective than liposuction and leaves a smoother skin behind.

However, because of the dual process involved, there is usually a requirement of multiple sessions. Also, the circulation that has been improved by using rollers has only a temporary effect and reversal of the cellulite condition is possible.

Cellulite Treatments by Ionophoresis

In this specialized technique, chemicals are introduced in the layers under the skin in a bid to destroy the fat molecules. The process, which is similar to an electrical decomposition, is known as ionophoresis. The method is a noninvasive process and hence it is gaining in popularity over other painful methods such as liposuction, tummy tuck and thigh lift.

The method is quite effective, though changes and modifications in the method are still being implemented. However, there are very few practitioners of the method currently. It also requires a lot of preparation of the skin before the method can be implemented.

Cellulite Treatments by Mesotherapy

This method involves the injecting of certain chemicals directly into the layers of the skin, i.e. where the cellulite is present. These chemicals can dissolve the cellulite and circulate it out of the body through excretion.

This is the quickest method for cosmetic treatment of cellulite currently and is used by several celebrities who are looking for instant results. There is pain involved because of the injections and in some cases there might be twitching of the muscles where the injections have been applied and breakout of allergic reactions to the chemicals used.
